Mechanical Designer/Drafter

The responsibilities will include:

? Interface regularly with design engineers to understand the part design intent, fit, function, and manufacturing/assembly considerations

? Check 3D CAD within the engine master assembly to verify a components fit/function and ensure appropriate clearances have been maintained with neighboring components

? Review manufacturing feasibility with design engineers, manufacturing engineers, and component suppliers

? Interface with internal manufacturing engineers and component suppliers to understand different manufacturing processes and limitations

? Create 2D drawings detailing components and assemblies applying appropriate GD&T call-outs, part feature tolerances, surface surfaces, material specifications, heat treatment, test specifications, and inspection requirements

? Collaborate with checkers to ensure redline drawing mark-ups are implemented prior to print release

? Perform critical stack-up and positional tolerances calculations as required

? Comprehensive use of 3D CAD tools such as Creo (Pro/E) to generate 3D CAD designs and drawings

? Update and maintain the 3D data for assigned engine components and assemblies within the PDM system

? Use technical expertise to generate creative and innovative solutions overcoming design issues/obstacles

? Participate in CAD design review meetings to identify & communicate any component interface issues

? Create/update required quality documentation for component designs (ex. Drawing check list, supporting documentation such as tolerance stacks, etc…

Required Qualifications:

? 5-10 years’ experience creating component and assembly drawings

? Strong knowledge of ASME Y14.5 GD&T standards

? Strong knowledge of Pro/E or Creo 2.0 creating 3D models and drawings

? Experience in the design of castings, forgings, weldments, and precision machined components

? Knowledge of prototype and mass production manufacturing processes

? Must be goal oriented, highly effective, and cognizant to achieve project milestones

? Demonstrated teamwork and interpersonal communication skills

? Knowledge of working within a PDM system

Preferred Qualifications:

? 5-10 years’ experience creating powertrain components drawings

? Associates or Bachelor’ s degree in design or engineering related field of study

? Knowledge of working with Windchill PDM system
