The Application Technology Manager responsibilities include the management of the Application teams to promote and support the sale of all Surface Preparation Equipment and Equipment Modernization Programs in North America. The Application Technology team supports the Outside Sales team while safeguarding the Company’ s corporate mandate of profitability. The position must ensure the effectiveness of several processes including the customer scope documentation based on identified needs, the estimating model accuracy, concept engineering and technical proposal writing.

  • Manage the Application Team members
  • Establish strategic goals and objectives and develop effective action plans to ensure that the actions are effectively completed in a timely fashion
  • Promote the exclusive use of MERLIN (Microsoft CRM) as the data collection point for Customer materials relating to the ATO (Acquire the Order) process
  • Manage the capacity plan for the loading of the department and provide feedback on a regular basis
  • Establish and manage department metrics to ensure the managed process is meeting customer expectations (internal and external)
  • Ensure the Risk Assessment process is rigidly followed and represents an accurate representation of the critical project risks.
  • Responsible for the estimating model accuracy and minimization of cost risk.
  • Develop and ensure the adoption of SPIN proposal elements within all proposal offerings
  • Work with MARCOM (marketing tool) in the development and continuous improvement of brochures and communications data produced for product, service and company promotion
  • Establish effective communication throughout the ATO and FTO to ensure that the offering meets customer and business expectations
  • Responsible for review and incorporation of pricing strategies with Outside Sales
  • Work closely with the CDC (Customer Development Center) for the purpose of continued flow of information into the PARTS PASSPORT in the share point site
  • Responsible for developing Sales Proposals via the Applications team that adhere to the process ensuring that proper information and documentation is delivered and that the schedule of authorities are adhered to in conjunction with other departments such as Engineering, Service and CDC
  • Regular review of the processes, procedures, work instructions identifying opportunities for improvement and to use Lean Tools to continuously improve the operation
  • Develop and implement effective Corrective Actions when desired results are not achieved
  • Develop team members and cross train team members so that operation effectiveness is maintained

  • Relevant Bachelor’ s Degree in related field
  • 5+ years of management experience
  • 5-10 years of Direct Industrial Sales and surface preparation equipment experience
  • Knowledgeable in Solution Selling or SPIN Selling methodologies
  • Proven track record in sales of capital equipment or related industry products
  • Strong abilities in determining project scope and risk evaluation
  • Strong technical skills for the evaluation of proposed projects and aiding in the design process
  • Proven project management ability for project creation and accountability
  • Ability to demonstrate working knowledge of a project estimating model for custom designed to order customer requirements.
  • Ability to work in a changing team environment, as well as independently, with efficiency, accuracy and professionalism
  • Strong organizational skills; must be able handle multiple priorities and changes in priorities effectively to meet customer expectations
  • Possess effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be flexible and willing to work in areas and on problems that may not normally be part of the position
  • Must be resourceful in resolving problems
  • Must be able to travel as required to meet business objectives
