Director of Engineering

Responsible for Parts Preparation Engineering for both OEM and Aftermarket Equipment Modernization Projects.
Responsibilities include development and implementation of standardized NA processes, performance metrics and reporting in support of overall NA strategic integration plan to deliver region objectives. Provide Technical Leadership to all technical resources to meet OEM/aftermarket project requirements and deadlines effectively. Initiates, plans, designs process, and oversees management activity to meet customer requirements.
Essential Functions Statement(s)
Provide technical leadership and direction to the Mechanical and Electrical Design teams
Lead the integration of local and international teams to operate under common structure with common processes and performance metrics, including business systems utilization such as Sharepoint, Bluestar and Solidworks
Provide technical support through the Engineering team to Applications, Product Innovation, Sales, Service and Supply Chain
Provide leadership for management team by supporting, development and setting/measuring of goals and objectives, ensuring a safe workplace for employees, exercising good judgment and setting a good example, and providing effective feedback and communication. Assure adherence to established design practices, work instructions and specifications.
Lead organizational development via organizational skills assessment and identification of team development requirements. Coordinate training and mentoring programs with team leaders to develop future leaders.
Ensures that, through proper delegation of responsibility, assignment of authority and adequate reporting systems and controls are in place and followed.
Support Management team work assignment to optimize resource utilization and talents to effectively meet customer requirements on time.
Lead development of strong interface with supply chain organization to review engineering contribution to manufacturing process and proactively improve and resolve design related issues for manufacturability. Interact with manufacturing and field representatives to resolve design related issues or provide insight into the fabrication, fit up, installation or operation of project offerings.
Ensures planned performance metrics are monitored and improved through lean and productivity improvements.
Establishes and implements long-term goals and objectives for the groups in-line with corporate vision and strategies.
Coordinate and interface with NA organization to develop solutions to support regional Parts formation and Parts Preparation businesses.
Regular travel to international site (NA) to lead organization. Customer travel as required to develop and advance industry expertise.
SKILLS & ABILITIES
Education: Bachelor's Degree (four year college or university) in relevant Engineering Field is required. Masters Degree preferred.
Lean and/or Six Sigma manufacturing experience required.
Experience: 5+ years direct Engineering management experience
Strong computer skills in Excel, Access, Windows based Office software, and 2D and 3D design software. Solidworks preferred.
Understanding and experience in stress calculations and machine drive calculations, pneumatic and hydraulic components and controls, standard welding practices, bill of material structure, and revision control. Understand and utilize fundamental design practices and demonstrate experience in product design using CAD and/or three dimensional modeling software.
